Peter (Michael Urie) is a social media strategist living in Los Angeles.He is tired of his entire family asking him about his single status each year when he visits them for the holidays. So Peter convinces his roommate Nick (Philemon Chambers) to travel to New Hampshire, pretending they are dating. Before they announce their fake relationship, Peter's mom tells him that she has arranged a blind date between Peter and her fitness instructor James (Luke Macfarlane). Peter reluctantly agrees with encouragement from his mom. Nick confesses his feelings, but Peter is afraid to risk their friendship. On Christmas Day, Peter announces his plan to the family, he's going to move to New Hampshire with his new boyfriend.
